And as many have said before, under Mr. Alan Waters, it was the best radio station for which one could ever "work."

I put work in quotes because you couldn't classify your stay at CHUM as work.

We were well paid with full benefits and a lot of perks passed down from Mr. Waters and Mr. Sherratt, such as free Gold seat hockey tickets, concert tickets, huge Christmas and ratings parties, free parking, all things that have disappeared from radio.

On top of that, you had respect as a professional part of a team that made magic and money.

Every day was fun, no matter what was happening.

Despite recessions where other stations fired people, CHUM kept on every staff member.

There were no mass firings until '94, after Mr. Waters was no longer actively involved in the day to day management of the two stations.

It was my privilege working three shifts at CHUM Limited, two at 1050 for 15 years, mostly as a morning news anchor and 2 as morning news anchor at CHUM Ottawa.

I worked at many great and a few not so great stations.
Nothing matches my CHUM experiences.
